Honey Graham Crackers

November 18, 2011 by Melissa

 I guess you’d call this a “serving suggestion” 🙂

One of my favorite cookies/crackers is a graham cracker. I love their honey taste and that they are a canvas for a multitude of snacks and desserts. If you hadn’t noticed, it’s creeping awfully close to holiday baking time, so I’m trying to get a jump start on experimenting with the recipes I want to use for Christmas this year, and I know that graham crackers will play a pivotal roll. Thus, I have found and tweaked and come up with one of the simplest honey graham cracker recipes ever!

These grahams are from the oven, not a box!
Honey Graham Crackers
(makes four graham cracker rectangles)
1/4 cup wheat flour + 1/4 cup white flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4-1/2 tsp cinnamon (depending on your taste preferences)
1 Tbs. brown sugar
1 Tbs. Splenda (or white sugar depending on your constitutions)
1 Tbs. honey (or agave)
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 Tbs + 1/2 Tbs vegetable oil
1 Tbs. water

~Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat.
~In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients, in order, until they come together to form a dough ball (I just used a fork to mix it all up). Place your dough ball between two pieces of wax paper and use a rolling pin to roll the dough out (about 1/8″ thick). Use a pizza cutter (or sharp knife) to cut the dough into large rectangles. Re-roll extra dough until it is all used up, resulting in 4 large graham rectangles. Bake for 10-12 min until they’re golden brown. Let cool completely on a wire rack and enjoy!

Strike up a conversation: What will you do with your yummy homemade grahams?
