Dr. Lucy’s Gluten Free Cookies

December 31, 2011 by Melissa

I’ve been trying a lot of cookies lately. I’ll admit, I succumbed to the temptations of Christmas and had a sampling of holiday desserts. Everything in moderation, though, right? As long as I can have a bite of a cookie that looks good, I’m fine with moving on after one bite (this is especially true if I wasn’t the one who made the cookie, because I’m usually weary of treats when I don’t know exactly what went into them).

I am most excited about all of the healthy cookie alternatives that I have been able to try. So far, I absolutely loved the Enjoy Life allergen-free cookies. Most recently, I have gotten to sample Dr. Lucy’s gluten-free cookies. They are not only gluten-free, but they are also made without milk, eggs, peanuts, or tree nuts, which makes them a great choice for those people with food allergies. I was able to sample the newest flavors, which are Ginger Snap, Maple Bliss, and Chocolate. Although the flavors aren’t strong, they have a subtly sweet addictive quality, and I found myself eating one-after-the-other. The chocolate one is a wonderful concept because it will make a great pie crust if crumbled! I also love the subtle maple flavor in the Maple Bliss, which is a great flavor alternative to the standard boxed cookies out there.

Only 130 calories for THREE cookies!

Now, if you read my blog, you’d know that I don’t like gingerbread or ginger snaps. I know that this may be a total travesty to some, but I just was never a fan (I love to decorate it, hate to eat it). The Ginger Snap cookie by Dr. Lucy, however, doesn’t have that spicy quality that I dread in ginger, so I actually could grow to like it (though I much prefer a simple oatmeal cookie or cinnamon snickerdoodle!).
In all, if you are searching for another allergen-free variety of cookie, I think that Dr. Lucy’s cookies will damper your cravings. With their growing range of flavors, you’re sure to find a favorite!

(In Arkansas, Dr. Lucy’s cookies can only be found at Whole Foods in Little Rock, but they can be ordered online too and delivered right to your door!)

Happy New Year, everyone! It’s been a great year and I’m ready for some huge adventures in the year to come!
