Homemade Stationary

February 28, 2014 by Melissa

Homemade Stationary is an easy craft and a perfect way to get you back to writing letters to your friends and family.

Write me a letter.

Seriously, like a real letter. I want proof of your handwriting. I want to read about that random, crazy thing that happened to you at Starbucks the other morning…

I love getting handwritten letters. And I’m generally really good about writing them. I have a select few friends that still write me letters and I cherish every note.

Many of you don’t know this, but my first job was in a small stationary store, making really elaborate custom cards and wedding invitations. I would spend hours and hours on one card. And I loved it. Due to obvious reasons, though, I don’t have hours to spend on one card, and I’ve forgone the elaborate for the simple and sweet.

When I saw Emily post her homemade cards with her favorite movie quotes, I quickly adopted the idea. I love using quotes from my favorite movies and TV shows (generally the ones filled with dry humor and sarcastic wit) to decorate my cards. Of course, you can go for the traditional “I love you” or “Hey, we need to talk…” but using quotes that could be inside jokes between you and that friend make it even more personal.

This is so simple (and homemade stationary is so much cheaper than buying stationary). Use a glue pen (found at craft stores) to write your favorite quote on a blank card (packs are sold in craft stores). Sprinkle on glitter in your favorite shade. Tap off the excess glitter and let the glue dry. Add a special touch to the inside or back of the card too. Then write that letter!

Now, get writing! And send me one too.
