Pregnancy Update: Weeks 13-24

August 14, 2015 by Melissa

Hey all! So I’m currently in my 24th week of pregnancy, and we haven’t checked in since the end of my first Trimester, so let’s do this! Pregnancy Update!

Pregnancy Update: Weeks 13-24 // treatswithatwist.com [week 18]

I’m currently feeling… pretty great!

I’ll be honest with you, I never thought this day would come. I heard plenty of people say that by my 12th…14th…16th…20th…week of pregnancy, I wouldn’t be sick anymore. And it took until week 20 to not be nauseous on a daily basis.

I started taking Zofran a few weeks after my first Trimester was over, and it changed the game for me. I surrender. And within 40 minutes of taking it, I’d feel so much better. My appetite would be come-and-go, but I wouldn’t want to just curl up, throw up and die.

I still took REALLY long naps, and frankly still do some days, but being excessively tired is way better than having my head in porcelain.

My lifesaver has been…my pregnancy pillow! Seriously, this thing changed my life. I sleep way better (besides frequent bathroom breaks) and my back hasn’t hurt at all since I’ve started curling up with it. I take it anywhere we travel to, and I swear I catch my husband trying to take naps just so he can use it. It’s legit. I went with the Snoogle, but I’ve heard great things about other brands too. I couldn’t be happier with this one. Plus, jersey fabric FOR LIFE.

If you are what you eat, baby King would be … iced Chai and fruit! And maybe nuts and dark chocolate too. Those seem to be my four major food groups. Decaf Chai, a regular Chai (no more that one a day) with homemade almond milk, grapes or watermelon…whole apples, lots of nut butter and smoked almonds daily…and Lindt truffles every few days. It’s so weird, but I haven’t had any real cravings (not since those first few weeks). And I haven’t had the urge to go on a donut bender at 3am, so for now things look pretty healthy. They’re just a bit excessive I guess. Who cares.

But seriously, baby is apparently the size of a cantaloupe this week (24). Which is so crazy. And it totally makes sense too. You see, I have about 3 inches of torso, so there’s nowhere for this kid to go but outwards…and it looks like I’m smuggling a cantaloupe. He’s growing so quickly, and my doctor assured me I wouldn’t see my feet anymore very soon. Thanks.

We’ve been having an amazing time lately. We painted the nursery (cough cough, my husband did), ordered some furniture that I’m sure we’ll put together any day now, and we talk to him all the time. I love feeling him kick, and I finally got my husband to put his hand on my stomach in time for him to feel the kicking too, just last week. Baby would be kicking up a storm, and I’d scream for my husband to hurry over, and by the time he’d get to me, the kicking would stop. I felt so awful about it! But finally, it happened. It’s really amazing.

I have 2 baby showers coming up: a friends and family shower back in the Northwest Arkansas area and then a virtual shower because so much of my family and loved ones live too far to ever get together. I can’t wait!

So you’ve been sitting on your butt eating watermelon… No! Quite the contrary. I’ve started taking Body Pump, take Prenatal Yoga, still go to my Advanced Yoga class when I can make it, and other days I go to the gym to walk on the treadmill while reading or run on the elliptical then lift weights. I truly believe that staying active is just the best thing for me, and my doctor agrees full-heartedly. Plus, I have a FitBit now and I am in constant competition with Kait and my younger brother, and that really lights a fire under me.

And that’s about it! Have any questions for me? Advice?

Thank you all for your birthday wishes on Monday’s post! Love you all!

Ha, you might have read in my post that my nausea was till week 20 too. Terrible! You are looking great, love the black/white dress. I seriously need one of those pillows but keeping being cheap and not buying one!

Lord! I literally would be like “oh I think I’m done with being sick…” then not 24 hours later I’d throw up for 12 hours straight. It was seriously never-ending.
You HAVE to get the pillow. I wanted to cheap out and not do it too, but now I’m so in love. Sleeping is a dream, and it’s even great bc you can contort it so you’ll be comfy all propped up in bed to read… so nice. The one I linked is my life saver.
