Good Greens Plus Bars: Product Review

October 27, 2011 by Melissa

When I received a box of Good Greens Plus Bars in the mail, it was like Christmas! I love getting packages in the mail, especially if they’re edible!

Here’s a quick rundown of the product details: They are gluten free, vegan, kosher, dairy free, a low glycemic food, 72% organic, and raw! The Plus bars are made with brown rice protein, dehydrated greens and berries, probiotics and antioxidants, which they call “Z52 superfood.” It’s amazing that each bar is 190-195 calories and has a whopping 10g of protein! And you wont believe this, but each bar contains 100% of your daily fruit and veggie servings. I’m pasting below a brand comparison picture from their website, because it is really interesting to look at:

Now, how does it taste? I received four flavors: chocolate coconut, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate raspberry, and wildberry.
Chocolate Coconut: I really enjoyed this bar! It tasted like an Almond Joy with a hint of berry. I loved that it was more like a chocolate bar, covered in “chocolate” and very soft. It definitely was a tasty hit of coconut, with a lingering of raspberry.
Chocolate Raspberry: Honestly, I couldn’t finish eating this bar. It had a strong chocolate and raspberry taste (which is great), but it left a funky coating in my mouth and had that lingering feeling of just having eaten a Flintstones Chewable vitamin. Not my favorite.
Chocolate Peanut Butter: I liked this bar. I felt like it could have had more of a peanut taste, but it was definitely my second-runner-up favorite to the Chocolate Coconut.
Wildberry: This was an interesting bar. It resembled a naked version of their chocolate raspberry bar (no chocolate) and reminded me of how my Buddy Bars look 🙂 The flavor was very berry and you could even see whole dried blueberries in the bar. I thought it was a nice sweet flavor change from their peanut butter and coconut versions…but lets face it, my favorite was:
CHOCOLATE COCONUT!!! 🙂
I try not to be partial, but when you grow up with your favorite candy bar being an Almond Joy, sometimes your memory taste buds sway you. I will admit, though, that I was shocked because normally I love peanut butter more than anything, but the coconut was just too good.
Thanks Good Greens!!

The berry one sounds good. Do the chocolate ones have that fake icky protien bar flavor?

No, actually, surprisingly they don’t! The chocolate on them is the most like real chocolate that I have had in a protein bar in awhile. I highly recommend the chocolate coconut if you want to try a chocolate one!

I'm Melissa! This is a space for gluten-free treats and eats, a more natural lifestyle, health and beauty, family travel and sustainability. I hope you stay awhile and enjoy!
