Fabulously Fit Friday 4

October 12, 2012 by Melissa

Thank God it’s Friday. I’m seriously exhausted.
For some reason, I haven’t been sleeping more than a few hours a night for the last three nights, so I’m SO ready for a good night’s sleep.
I have big wedding plans this weekend which is really exciting!
My fiancé and I have started taking walks together around the city which has been so nice. I love spending time together, getting some exercise in, and I’m so glad that this was his idea. The exercise is mild, but the time together is priceless.
The Sweaty Breakdown:
Saturday:Tabata-style workout (traditionally you’d repeat it 4 times, but start with 3)

Sunday: Alternating between:
5 min. stationary bike (resistance level 5) then
sets of –
{40 jump rope
15 medicine ball slams
40 jump rope
15 medicine ball slams
40 jump rope
15 medicine ball slams
40 jump rope}
Repeat 3x, end with additional 5 min stationary bike (resistance level 5); then 5 min cool down, bike resistance level 3

Monday: 2 mile walk with my fiancé around Memphis; 50 burpees; abs and arms work; 15 minute deep stretching

Tuesday: 2 mile walk with my fiancé around Memphis; alternating jump rope and medicine ball swings (because I don’t have a kettle bell)

Wednesday: 2 mile power walk pushing my nanny twins in the stroller

Thursday: 100 crunches then an Elliptical Sprint Interval workout

Fabulous Fitness Finds*:
Quest Cravings Protein: Peanut Butter Cups

This is the second Cravings product from Quest (check out my Finds last week to see the first!). It’s the good old peanut butter cup but drastically made over! They have no sugar, and for two peanut butter cups, it’s 240 calories, 21 grams of protein (!), and 8 total grams of carbs! That’s amazing! And let me tell you, these things are rich and thick! I seriously only ate half of one and was totally satisfied! And although I never eat snacks over 200 calories, you can’t beat a “treat” that has over 10 grams of protein per piece!

Navitas Naturals: Maca powder

I’m really excited about this powder. Granted, it tastes very earthy (please don’t open the bag, stick your nose in, and take a giant whiff, because you will probably regret it…), but you only use 1 teaspoon and you’ve smacked your meal with a nutrient powerhouse! This powder derives from a Peruvian root and is proven to increase your energy, immunity, and libido, decrease stress, and clear your skin…hit me! The flavor mixes really well with chocolate things (try my Immunity Boosting Choco Maca Smoothie or stir it into some chocolate protein oats!) and pumpkin things (put it in your next pumpkin pie smoothie!).

GAH! I’ve been dying to try those quest PB cups!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on some. And the maca powder sounds very interesting. I love navitas products so I may have to try that!
